one suggestion

        One suggestion that I will make to the ppl who are coming for more than say two to three months, learn how to drive and get an IDL, it will work out lot cheaper and give u independence of moving around freely. Which we are not having now :(

day-2

        To tell you truly, packing while you are going so long to such a place like US is very tough, until you have your mothers' help. Cos its just not other place you r going in India, where you can think of buying anything that you might have forget to bring from home.


        So, I suggest you that from the day you get confirmation that you will be going to US, start making list of things that you would be carrying, right from, say toothbrush cos at last 1 $ = Rs. 45. What I suggest is don't try to buy any such things that you can carry from India and is allowed to US.


        As I said I also made a list of things in the same way. I was talking to many people and been updating the list. Luckily there were six of us been selected to travel to US, so I did this exercise asking them to prepare their own packing list and then cross checking with each others, to make sure that we haven't missed out anything. (note : the list would vary from place to place in US and depends on the season you are traveling). I made my list after looking at the info. like the likely temperature in Plano at this point of time and even talking to my clients and asking their suggestions over kind of clothing that they would suggest etc., even my boss (kumar..hi kumar..) helped me out in this (thanx kumar!!!)


        While making list think of very important things how are you going to pack it and where do you gonna pack them, cos I traveled in Lufthansa, which allows two pcs. of baggage each 23 kgs, these people are very strict, So, weigh your baggage while you are done completely with your packing and 23.x will do, but not more than 23.5.


        I must tell you why my packing was so difficult, cos I have to handle both what I need to buy and pack and even my office work, and even couldn't take day off for packing and other stuff, so it had put lot of pressure on me at the end. I suggest you all that if possible do complete all your packing a day before and browse thro it on the last day, even that is not necessary if your are confident about the packing.


        To try to help you out in this more, just make a note of things like which bag contains wat? So, that you can just recheck the stuff and even while you came in here, you don't have any confusion (like I had, I forgot where I had my belt...)

Hi all,


This is gonna be new column I am starting which have all my experiences during my travel to USA. Hope you all would enjoy.


Between I will be telling all you what to bring and what to do and what to pack and my experience abt all of these...I hope this would be useful to all you.


Who can use this?? Ya, its a good question. All those who are coming on a short time period to US and probably staying in a hotel rather than a service appartment can use this as a useful tool.
